SPECIAL SOUTH 7 NUITS An itinerary designed by our regional experts to offer a superb 7-night crossing from central to southern Maldives, with a strong focus on channels and shark diving. During this cruise, you will dive in North Malé, South Malé, Vaavu, Meemu, Thaa, Laamu and Gaafu Alifu Atolls. The route links some of the most renowned kandus in the archipelago, intense drift dives, cleaning stations and vibrant reefs, with excellent chances of encountering grey reef sharks, whitetip reef sharks, eagle rays, schools of jacks, tuna and other pelagics. A dynamic, fast-paced and spectacular cruise, ideal for divers drawn to action, current and the finest channels in the Maldives. North Male Atoll HULHUMALÉ NERU / SHARK POINT Level: Easy • Depth: 22 m • Photo: Wide Angle From the moment you enter the water, the tone is set: here, divers settle on the sand and wait for large predators to pass by. Stingrays, spinner sharks, bull sharks, tiger sharks, lemon sharks and hammerheads may all appear out of the blue, making for a dive that is simple in profile yet spectacular in its encounters. EMBOODOO EXPRESS Level: Advanced • Depth: 30 m • Photo: Wide Angle In this iconic channel of the central Maldives, the current quickly concentrates the action along the reef edge. Grey reef sharks, jacks, schools of snapper and other open-water hunters take advantage of the flow, in a lively, fast-paced dive that perfectly captures the spirit of a true kandu. KANDOOMA THILA Level: Easy • Depth: 15 m • Photo: Macro / Wide Angle Here, the scenery is almost as important as the marine life. Overhangs covered in soft corals, dense reef fish life and regular shark sightings make this thila one of the most beautiful underwater scenes in South Malé, combining pure aesthetics with true pelagic energy.
Vaavu Atoll Miyaru Kandu Level : Med./Diff. • Depth : 30m/100ft • Cam : 24-60 The entire site revolves around the current and the regular presence of grey reef sharks patrolling the channel. Eagle rays, Napoleon wrasse and large schools of fish add to the spectacle, making this a sustained dive that is especially appreciated by divers who enjoy action. Alimatha HR Level: Int. / Adv. • Depth: 20 m • Photo: 24-60 / Wide Angle Once night falls, the atmosphere changes completely and the site becomes a stage for predator encounters. Tawny nurse sharks, blacktip reef sharks, stingrays and giant trevally gather here in a legendary night dive that feels intense, unusual and unlike anything else on a Maldivian itinerary. Fotteyo Kandu Level : Easy/Med. • Depth : 30m/100ft • Cam : M./24-60 Few sites capture the beauty of the southern Maldives so well. Overhangs covered in soft corals create an exceptional setting, while eagle rays and grey reef sharks cross the blue, giving the dive a character that is at once spectacular, colourful and deeply iconic. Devana Kandu Niveau : Medium • Depth. : 30m • Photo : 24-60 A beautiful, fish-rich channel where grey reef sharks, reef sharks, eagle rays, stingrays and Napoleon wrasse can all be encountered in a lively and rewarding dive.
Meemu Atoll Muli Kandu Level : Med. • Depth : 30m/100ft • Cam : 24-60 A drift dive along the channel of Muli Island, which is a turtle breeding area. Expect abundant snapper, schools of tuna and jacks, sharks and eagle rays in a dive that is both rich and very lively. Vanhuravalhi kandu Level: Advanced • Depth: 30 m • Photo: 24-60 The width of this channel allows divers to cross it and admire overhangs covered in yellow soft coral. Out in the blue, schools of grey reef sharks and silvertips can be seen, along with eagle rays, barracuda and jacks in constant motion. KurEli kandu Level : Easy • Depth : 15m/50ft • Cam : Wide At the south-western tip of the atoll, this site becomes particularly rewarding on an outgoing current, when many manta rays gather over a sandy bottom between 12 and 18 metres, creating a truly magical encounter.
Thaa Atoll Kalhufahala giri Level : Easy • Depth : 30m/100ft • Cam : Macro Beautiful reefs rich in fish life, hard corals and soft corals make this a very pleasant dive. Grey reef sharks, whitetip reef sharks and eagle rays are often present around this pinnacle. Olhugiri Kandu Level: Advanced • Depth: 30 m • Photo: Wide Angle This magnificent channel combines sharks, eagle rays, schools of snapper and jacks with overhangs covered in superb soft corals. A powerful, photogenic dive with a distinctly southern Maldives feel. DIYAMIGILI BEYRU Level: Advanced • Depth: 30 m • Photo: Wide Angle More exposed, bluer and more open to the ocean, this outer wall attracts divers looking for strong sensations and big encounters. The site is especially sought after for the possibility of seeing hammerheads, in a more oceanic setting that reinforces its character.
Laamu Atoll Isdhoo Muli Level: Easy • Depth: 25 m • Photo: Macro Reef life and pelagic encounters come together here with real elegance. Napoleon wrasse, turtles, whitetip reef sharks, groupers, snapper and jacks all move through this deep, lively site, making it especially enjoyable for divers who appreciate rich and balanced dives. Fushi Kandu Level: Advanced • Depth: 30 m • Photo: Wide Angle Here, everything feels faster and more intense. The channel is known for its squadrons of eagle rays, grey reef sharks and schools of bigeye trevally, in an adrenaline-filled dive where your eyes remain fixed on the blue.
Gaafu Alifu / Dhaalu Atolls Viligilhi Kandu Level: Advanced • Depth: 30 m • Photo: Wide Angle Here, the current immediately sets the tone and turns the dive into a true pelagic spectacle. Along the lips of the channel, grey reef sharks, eagle rays, jacks and large schools of fish ride the flow, creating a powerful atmosphere that is typical of the far south. Kooddoo Kandu Level: Advanced • Depth: 30 m • Photo: Wide Angle The site’s appeal lies in the concentration of action along the channel, where marine life seems to organise itself around the current. Grey reef sharks, blacktip reef sharks, barracuda, jacks and eagle rays cross paths here in a dense, fast-paced and unmistakably Maldivian dive. Kooddoo Ethere Level: Advanced • Depth: 30 m • Photo: Wide Angle More unusual than the other sites in the area, this spot stands out for its rare encounters and its atmosphere of anticipation. Divers come here mainly in the hope of seeing the elegant spinner shark and, at times, a bull shark, in a short but emotionally intense dive.
