Please pay attention to your departure port, as this itinerary may be operated in reverse. Travel through the heart of the Central Visayas on this six-night voyage from Malapascua Island in Northern Cebu to Dauin in Negros Oriental. Beginning with the thresher sharks of Kimud Shoal, the journey follows a southbound route through some of the region's most diverse marine environments. Along the way, we explore the reefs of Gato Island, the quiet waters of Sipaway, the walls of Pescador Island, the sardine schools of Moalboal, and the coral reefs of Sumilon Island before finishing in Dauin. The voyage combines marine life encounters, island exploration, and relaxed cruising through the Visayas. From macro subjects and reef fish to sharks, sardines, and whale sharks, each destination offers a different perspective on the Philippines' underwater world. Philippines Explorer II is designed as an expedition yacht rather than a traditional liveaboard. Diving remains at the heart of the experience, but there is also time to enjoy the journey itself whether that means exploring a quiet island, paddleboarding along the shoreline, or simply watching the scenery change as we travel through the archipelago.

Welcome aboard Philippines Explorer II. Guests may choose to arrive directly via Maya Port or spend additional time on Malapascua prior to embarkation. Our team is happy to assist with recommendations and transfer arrangements. Please arrive at the vessel by 2:00pm (14:00), where the crew will welcome you aboard and assist you with settling into your cabin. Following a vessel orientation and safety briefing, we begin our journey south. A late-afternoon check dive provides an opportunity to become familiar with the boat and equipment before settling into life at sea. This evening we anchor near Malapascua in preparation for tomorrow's diving.
Before sunrise, we head to Kimud Shoal, arriving just as the first light reaches the water. Here, divers have the opportunity to encounter the thresher sharks that visit the cleaning stations each morning. Later, we continue to nearby Chocolate Island. In contrast to the open-water encounters of Kimud, the reefs here offer colourful corals, fascinating macro life, and excellent opportunities for underwater photography. After the day's diving, we remain in the area before continuing south.
Today we explore the waters surrounding Gato Island, a protected marine sanctuary off the northern coast of Cebu. Known for its dramatic underwater topography, Gato offers a mix of swim-throughs, walls, coral-covered boulders, and sandy slopes. One of the highlights is the Tunnel, a natural passage beneath the island that provides a unique diving experience. The reefs support a wide variety of marine life, from reef fish and macro subjects to occasional shark encounters, making Gato one of the region's most diverse dive destinations.
Today we slow the pace slightly as we explore Sipaway Island. The surrounding reefs provide enjoyable diving with colourful corals, reef fish, and a variety of macro subjects. Above the surface, Sipaway offers a glimpse of everyday island life away from the busier tourist centres. Between dives there is time to explore ashore, enjoy a walk along the beach, or simply relax aboard as we continue our journey through the Visayas.
Today's diving takes place around Pescador Island and Moalboal. Pescador is known for its steep walls, healthy coral growth, and diverse reef life. One of the site's best-known features is the Cathedral, a cavern illuminated by sunlight filtering through an opening above. Later, we visit Moalboal's famous sardine run, where vast schools of sardines move in constantly changing formations close to shore. Both divers and snorkellers can enjoy this remarkable natural phenomenon. After diving, we continue south along Cebu's coastline.
An early start provides the opportunity for an encounter with the whale sharks of Oslob. Guests may choose to dive or snorkel, depending on their preferences and onward travel plans. Afterwards, we continue to nearby Sumilon Island. Clear water, healthy reefs, and excellent visibility provide a striking contrast to the morning's experience. Following lunch, we cross to Dauin, where the final dives of the voyage focus on the region's renowned muck-diving sites. Frogfish, nudibranchs, seahorses, and a wealth of unusual critters make this one of the Philippines' most rewarding destinations for marine-life enthusiasts and underwater photographers. We spend our final evening anchored off Dauin.
After breakfast, it is time to disembark at Dauin. For those wishing to extend their stay, Dauin offers excellent opportunities for additional diving, relaxation, and exploration. Our team will be happy to assist with accommodation recommendations and onward travel arrangements. From the thresher sharks of Malapascua to the reefs of Cebu and the critter-rich waters of Dauin, this voyage offers a diverse introduction to the Central Visayas and the many environments that make the Philippines such a rewarding diving destination. We look forward to welcoming you aboard and sharing this journey through one of the country's most varied cruising regions.
